You are missing the point. Click-based advertising is based on a fundamental belief that clicks are being done by HUMANS.

That is what the search engines are selling. Human clicks.

If it turns out 30% or more are being done by robots, yet GOOGLE IS STILL TAKING MONEY FOR THOSE CLICKS, then google has a problem.

Look, the porn industry tried this model YEARS ago. It collapsed into massive fraud and eventually everyone with no exceptions switched to a "commission for signup" model.

Even batelle says the pay-per-click model is doomed.

BTW- can you name a single other industry where 30% of its revenue is drawn directly from fraud?

Loansharking? Drug dealing?

This is a serious issue. Just clicking your heels and saying "oh, dont be silly, those smart phds have figured it out i'm sure" isn't going to make it go away.
