I hold only till the day before the split at closing. I have found that many split stocks dont go up much after the split especially compared to the short period of time before the split.

I have my own data on the 2 for 1 compared to others. I used briefing.com when I have thier service and went back 6 months including down periods. The other slits less than 2 for 1 were not even close.
I must say the last 2 days have blown my theory as everything is down. I think it works in most markets, but in severe downturns, nothing works except short selling.

I use interactive brokers and have found them to be the best. They let you paper trade real time with all kinds of separate page titles. I found my splits stocks due better than any other class of stock picks I have.
