wonder how the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem would have reacted to such a plan of having 6 million Jews shipped to Palestine.

What should we have done.. declared a truce in the war so all of these people could be shipped to the Mid-East??

My sense is the British government was just happy to avoid being invaded. They last thing they would have wanted to do further enrage the Arabs in Palestine

You don't have to sense anything, just look at the history. The British White Paper of 1939 essentially stopped all Jewish immigration to Palestine, leaving Jews trying to flee Europe nowhere to go. As for the Grand Mufti, he spent WWII in Berlin, raising 2 divisions of Bosnian Muslims for the Waffen SS & helping implement the Final Solution. His concern was that any Jews who escaped might wind up in Palestine; he didn't want that. Had Rommel taken Palestine, he would have gladly volunteered to take charge of the Final Solution there.

Well, it happened a few years later anyway. Don't you think earlier would have been better?
