How about an algore per barrel tax on oil extracted from the arctic for the environment.

Gosh.. do you think those oil companies would be crass as to just let those polar bears become extinct?? Gosh...you don't know what is affecting the polar bear population. Oh well. I say "let 'em drill" and make them responsible for protecting the herds out of their profits rather than taxpayer dollars. If a species comes close to extinction, then require them to curtail their operations and evacuate the area. It will be drilled. Be "positive" rather than continually whining. Think of it as a temporary storage facility until the legislation passes. It's not going anywhere; it will still be there when they start drilling. Conservatives act as if we don't start drilling tomorrow, the caribou will use it up before Exxon-Mobil gets it's hands on it. jttmab
