Of all the lessons that Livermore has to teach (and there are quite a few), that last one is the one that is really seared into my consciousness. To have that much success and then let it slip through your fingers...bad idea. That's why I make sure that I keep a good portion of assets socked away in an asset class with a track record measured in millennia and that is "nobody else's liability".

Do you mean 90% margin, that is he put up 10% of the value with his own cash. It is said that one of the causes of the market crash in 1929 was that too many people were margined to 90%.
