Excellent question.

Interpretations and opinion on the meaning of facts is useful when one looks at all the facts in the context of the time line of history and events. It seems whiners harp about what others seem to think and about things like approval.

One thing is certain the UN does not think. The members of the UN may by resolution express approval or not of a member countries actions. Sans a formal disapproval or condemnation a members conduct is approved as far as the UN is concerned.

The fact is the UN within the history of it's resolutions and with no contrary actions or resolutions has 100% approved the conduct of the US and the coalition of the willing.

I see no pretense, just an accurate and logical explanAtion of the current state of the UN's continued approval of the .

His is no "interpretation" or "opinion." His statement is based on facts which are so easily pushed aside and/or forgotten by those that do/did not support President Bush and the coalition.

I assume the "several members" you refer to are China, Russia and France? Russia and France were on the take and have been totally discredited and China didn't want the U.S. flexing its muscles.

Who's "pretending", and who's "everyone?" I really don't know who you are talking about? Eventually the President went ahead without U.N. approval and cooperation.......although lord knows he tried.

On November 8, 2002, the UN passed Resolution 1441 urging Iraq to disarm or face "serious consequences". The resolution passed with a 15 to 0 vote, supported by Russia, China and France, and Arab countries like Syria. This gave this resolution wider support than even the 1990 Gulf War resolution. Although the Iraqi parliament voted against honoring the UN resolution, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein agreed to honor it.
