I think the answer is education, since feminism grows where education is available and successful.

In this day and age do you really think young black women are somehow internalizing some message of being stay at home moms put forth by some religious establishment?

I don't.

If they really believed the traditional message, they wouldn't be having out of wedlock children with 3 or 4 different men, as opposed to the traditional marriage with children. Or is the stay at home message a message to be a stay at home SINGLE mom?

Every high school student from time immemorial has had to decide whether to refrain from sex or take measures to prevent pregnancy. Some are responsible. Some are just plain lucky. The rest are mothers at 15 with 18 year old daddies who can't take care of themselves, let alone a family.

I don't think feminism per se is the answer to anything. I think that the focus needs to be on the young men as well. It's their abandonment of the family obligations that creates the economic hardships and dependence on AFDC. If the women/girls controlled their bodies more intelligently, perhaps the fallout would produce more responsible boys/men.

As you say, why should they have sex with "raggedy ass men" who are unworthy?
