I think liberals are unlikely to make up laws about such things. That they may personally despise the intolerant (racist, sexist, homophobic) is not the same thing as using the coercive power of the state to shut people up, or make them be "moral". That is, imo, a big difference.

What is the justification from any ideological point of view in America to endorse slavery, gender superiority, or racial superiority? Is there still a place in American society and politics for that? Those issues go far, far beyond regional differences......why should anyone tolerate them in an enlightened society? Perhaps I misunderstood something here.
