Tech stocks -- I'm keeping my eye on EMC -- maybe in the fall ? I'm not sure, cuz I'm a believer that the real estate bust will spread to the whole economy -- dragging the economy down through 2007 and maybe beyond.

OT: I have a large network set up in my home to test networking with different operating systems. Used to have to "beg, borrow, or steal" computers. Now people are trying to unload their old computers on me right and left, powerful computers. Have actually had to turn people down. ANYONE who really wants a computer can get one now, regardless of their financial condition.

Put another way, the market in the US for computer technology is saturated. Aftermarket for computer cards might remain strong but can't see the box makers or chip makers doing anything. Even the more desireable laptops are cheap now if you don't get suckered into buying the (just barely faster) bleeding edge technology.

China demand is probably going to be the driver going forward.

I wouldn't buy tech unless you are sure the company itself is in a secular growth trend (I think there are 3 of these - GOOG, AAPL and AKAM). The rest of the market including the nas is going to 1974 valuations I think. The reason tech looks worse than housing is because many of those were more expensive to begin with.

At 70s level valuations though, I would put every cent I had into the QQQs.

"Tech looking even worse than housing these days."

Thank god for trailing stops! I've only a couple of positions that haven't sold themselves out. Our policies, wars and the instability in the ME seem toxic to markets. Anybody have an eye on the "war" stocks?
