They have mobilized a reserve infantry division, but other than that, I haven't seen any information regarding full mobilization, except generic references to the reserves being mobilized.

Of course my suggestion at the time was to make peace with Saddam and leave the place alone.

Oh I see.. Submit to Saddam's intransigence and corruption of the UNSC and just APPEASE his non-cooperation..

Obviously this would not have emboldened him to believe the UNSC was truly a paper tiger that would he could ignore at will.

Great idea!!

I really don't think Israel has any good choices. Their basic problem is maintaining their country as an attractive place to live. Neither invading Lebanon nor allowing the Lebanese to pelt them with missiles will allow this.

While I might, in principle, agree with this.. I also believe the same situation extends to Lebanon. Hizbullah was backing BOTH nations into a corner from which they would either cower (Lebanon), or lash out (Israel).

There was simply no logical provocation for Hizbullah to get cross Israel's border, killing/capturing its soldiers, and igniting this crisis.

I think that we both realize that there is no way those rockets are going to stop falling without the Israeli army going into the southernmost 30 miles of Lebanon. And to do that, they have to call up their reserves. So where is the call up?

Callups are continuing, Carl:

3 reserve battalions called up

Defense ministry approves draft Monday night. Reserves to take over in Judea and Samaria, regular forces to move north
Hanan Greenberg

Defense Minister Amir Peretz approved Monday night the draft of three reserve battalions – infantry and engineers. The forces will be drafted starting Tuesday morning and will replace regular forces in Judea and Samaria. The regular forces will help in the northern array.

As of today, infantry and engineer corps are operating to destroy Hizbullah outposts in the line of fire. Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Maj. Gen. Moshe Kaplinsky, revealed, in a Monday press conference at the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, that in recent days, forces were operating in a ground offensive against Hizbullah outposts in Rajar village.

'This stroke was a destructive one'

There were several exchanges of fire during the operation, which took place east of the Lebanese border. The forces entered the village and destroyed two of the organization's outposts. The outposts, in the northern part of Rajar (in Lebanese sovereign territory), constituted a constant threat to IDF forces in the southern part of Rajar, which is in sovereign Israeli territory. Rajar is a weak point in terms of security and has been the focus of many difficult confrontations. For example, in November 2005, a kidnapping attempt took place, which was foiled at the last minute by an Israeli sniper.
