I think it is mostly genetic. Have you ever heard the phrase : "Bad to the Bone?"

I think it became a popular song.

Another one is "Mama Tried" by Merle Haggard, shows the futility of parents trying to set values.

Of course, it's not necessarily true, as one can see in : "Me and my Uncle", a sad tale.

Also a misplaced attribution of nurture vs nature can be seen in "Brown-Eyed Women" :
"Delilah Jones was the mother of twins
Two times over and the rest were sins
Raised eight boys, only I turned bad
Didn't get the lickings that the other ones had"

I think the "sins" refer to extraneous genetic material.

Many many psyhc experiments are pretty well controlled. I wouldn't equate them with science, but they are convincing. And what is family but environment?
