Mike, I once owned a record store in the 80's and have never heard of Love nor did anyone ever order them. Time likes Forever Changes, which album do you suggest? amazon.com Jim btw, I was listening to Nick Drake when he was alive. -g-

I enjoyed your tribute to Arthur Lee. Love was one of my favorite bands (they could often be a mess live, because Arthur Lee was often a mess). Actually, 7 & & Is was a much bigger hit nationally than My Little Red Book. All of their singles were hits of sorts in L.A. For jjsirius, definitely check out Forever Changes, a great album, maybe one of the top ten albums in rock history. But Da Capo is almost as good, and contains "She Comes in Colors," one of Love's best songs -- I have no idea why the song wasn't a big hit. I was into most of the California bands, North and South, except for the Grateful Dead (I lost too many gray cells, as well as my patience, when dragged by my friends to their concerts). Just as I did 40 years ago, I think the Beach Boys outclassed all of them. Brian Wilson's music is the only one of all these bands that sounds as good today as then. I can't remember the last time I gave "Surrealistic Pillow" or "Soft Parade" a spin, but "Pet Sounds" and the "Good Vibrations" box set (and many others) are constants.
