:-)
I almost commented on that myself, but then I thought, why go there, because that's one of those eye of the beholder arguments. You can make Jesus all about Marxism if you want to and if you pick and choose carefully (because he too was concerned with the poor and downtrodden and a bit iffy on capitalist pigs), but that doesn't make him a marxist...

The biggest flaw is the assertion that the "left is "rooted" in Marxism."

This is what the piece said.

"The left is rooted in Marxism and the belief that the conflict between the haves and the have nots is the axis on which the world spins."

How would you reword it? You are allowed only one sentence.

"The right is rooted in self-determinism balanced by Judeo-Christian traditionalism."

I would challenge the word, "balanced." In theory maybe. In practice, the right is rooted in Judeo-Christian traditionalism with an occasional nostalgic wave at self-determinism.

but it's certainly right on point to argue that it's a temperament rather than a political philosophy with a movement.

I agree, too.

Way up-thread there was a discussion about the essence of centrism.

"The other day Shiloh and I listed some different notions that could pass for "center" depending on how you look at it. The were open-minded, unaffiliated, MODERATE, rational, and realistic. I think that Dale's variety is primarily of the unaffiliated school (focus on swing voters). At least that's how I read him."

Until and unless centrists come up with a succinct ideology, I think it's about being moderate and unaffiliated and that "centrist" is a misnomer.

I agree John that the one statement that was salient for me and stood out was that the left is rooted in Marxism.....Interesting that you should bring that out too.

The article needs digesting by me as I am limited to reading just so much but thank you Lane for bringing this site which I have book marked to my attention.
