Are comic book heros liberal or conservative?

>>>"With great power comes great responsibility", is that a liberal concept or conservative one? <<<

I suspect, if they close the facility, it would be done for political purposes rather than practical ones. The same function would likely be served via a less famous lime light.

If you acknowledge the need to hold and interrogate prisoners why would there be any reason to get rid of the facility at Guantanamo? If the thought is we should dump the camps at Gitmo because abuses, well abuse can happen in another facility just as easily.

Re: "Fully acknowledging the need for a valid and useful means to hold and interrogate legitimate suspects in the war on terror..."

(Which I certainly do, along with you, Pomp....)

"...has Guantanamo outlived its purpose?"

Well, if from a strategic point-of-view it is damaging the national interests *more* then it is benefiting them to hold war prisoners in an off-shore locale in an effort to skirt American laws, I'd say the answer would clearly be 'yes'.

Presumably no one is much fond of gulags....

(And, since the global political harm seems to be fully acknowledged and increasingly obvious... and the CIA and others agencies have been reporting for a long time now that whatever tactical info these prisoners once held is long since dated and devalued... it would seem that this arrangement and policy is just another in a long line that has been crying out for a revaluation and new, more effective, tactics.)
