Can't tell whether we are at different places or not. My own position, subject to change with the next thing I read, is that the US should try to guide the political through to a "soft" partition before leaving.

The only ones we can hurt by our staying are our service men who are being slaughtered daily. I wish everyone who posts on those ideological war... threads... Believing as they have in Bush's plan for a democracy would walk in two sets of shoes. The first would be to know that they were drafted and going to Iraq to serve..and the second would be to have a son who is there and the knowledge of the failure that could result in the death of THEIR child. Not someone else's..
