CJ, I kind of agree with SYH. Maybe I just don't understand the horsepower needed to drive next generation video cards, but I have a hard time seeing why a desktop user would want 8 cores in this platform. Wouldn't there need to be a richer interconnect?

I never understood why 4x4 would be a good idea. I'm worried that this was a bad attempt at saving face on the "performance crown". I'd prefer that AMD just kept chugging along gaining marketshare and working on products that made business sense.

Yes, this particular implemetation (90 nm, or 65 nm shrink) will not have a market.

Now possibly a power-efficient K8L, as a 2-socket work-station will be viable. But this 500 watt product will not have any success.

Also the possibility of a processor change to quad core and a switch to a coprocessor in the other socket.
