For some reason I am very, very comfortable in this kind of environment. I find it extremely calming, and it gives me almost a spiritual feeling. When we lived in Basalt we used to go up to a little town called Meredith for some incredible X country skiing. It was up the Frying Pan river and right above Ruedi Resevoir. There were a few more trees because it wasn't quite above the tree line, but both Leadville and Meredith give me that same feeling.

Thanks........those pics are awesome.

BTW..where are all of those places?

Edit: From the little amount of research I've already done, it looks like they are all in Calif. What an amazing state. Too bad a lot of the people are looney. -gg-

That's Kearsarge Lake and Kearsarge Pinnacles in California. Maybe there is something I like about California after all.

I back packed with Bud Moore into the Wind River Range in Wyoming as a teenager. It was very similar. We had a severe hail storm the first night, but Bud chopped out a shelter underneath an alpine fir clump and we were none the worse for wear in the morning.
