re: If you mean the Gulf countries any disruption of their supply would make oil much more expensive, which would in turn make our military operations more expensive, but it wouldn't shut them down or make the military powerless/useless.

Yeah, I guess we would have a choice of moving goods (like food), going to work, or fighting wars. It's not just the Gulf, it's also Russia and Venezuela.

We are in debt to China up to our earlobes. We are paying a kings ransom to Russia, the Gulf states and Venezuela for the lifeblood of our economy. If you don't see the problem you are not paying attention.

he greatest threat to this country is not military or "terrorist", it's economic. The oil producing countries could shut us down in a second... and our military would be worthless.

No really. We produce more than enough oil to run our military. Also "the oil producing countries" include such countries as Canada and Mexico who are unlikely to cut us off.

If you mean the Gulf countries any disruption of their supply would make oil much more expensive, which would in turn make our military operations more expensive, but it wouldn't shut them down or make the military powerless/useless.

And you object when I claim the US has become a militaristic society. Look at what you consider to be most important element should the oil producing nations fail to share their oil with us.
