the interesting thing is this : Pakistan allows commercial/civilian aircraft from India to not only fly in Pakistani airspace, but also use Pakistani airports as a stopover, for Indian airlines on their way west.

I cant figure the logic in this situation. Its like my neighbor saying to me 'dont go across my yard to help my other next door neighbor, but if u are going 2 doors away, its OK'

I read some reports that we in the US finance Pakistan to the extent of about $1B/year to help in Afghanistan.

What are we getting in return for the $1B ?

We in the US probably have it a bit easier - we have shit loads of men and equipment in the Gulf. The only gotcha may be flying over Iran to get to Afghanistan.
