The difference is with a Hundi, you pay money up front, you are given a piece of paper (think of it as a letter of credit).

Wait.. I thought this was how Hawala was carried out.. you're given a "chit" or a code, which you either carry with you, or pass to a another party, who then carries it to the receiving bank and collects the transfer?

What am I missing?
