If those elections were declared free, fair, and representative of diverse interests of the Kuwaiti people, I'd let it stand. If people vote to subjugate themselves to the sovereignty and dominion of another country, that's their right.....Here's a hint; what kind of democracy would you have if the majority of the voters were intolerant, radical, brutal and hated the minorities? Anyone, anyone, Bueller? And WHERE is it apparent that 12 million Iraqis are all taking up arms to invoke the kind of atmosphere you're speaking about? Even when their most holy mosque in Samarra is destroyed by Al Qai'da, the "quietist" followers of Al-Sistani displayed restraint. And that was EXACTLY the opposite reaction than the one Al Qai'da had hoped to generate, namely outright genocide against Sunnis and the onset of a regional war between Sunnis and Shi'a. You've bought into EXACTLY what the militants want to convey to the world via their acts of political violence. The whole point of terrorism is to generate headlines, and social intimidation; to create the impression that they are in control and the government weak and vulnerable. The reality is quite different, and I hope, it will progress to the point where the Iraqi government can represent both majority and minority equally. But that's going to be a long road, as our own history demonstrates. But each step forward is better than the giant leap backward you seem to advocate. Hawk
