Dayan was an ultra dove. The rest of Israel wanted Jerusalem if not all the West Bank, and the Golan, so they could stop the Syrian shelling and prevent the Syrians from diverting the Jordan.

I liked the comments by the Syrian who said that the Arabs had been left in "dry place" with no promise of rain, in the ruins of their dreams. The Arab regimes started out by whipping up their people with lies, then covered the shame of their defeat with yet more lies. And the people bought it and let them stay in place. Like the Syrian said, anywhere else in the world, the governments would have fallen after such a disaster. But not the Arab world.
