That doesn't entirely explain it since it is a trend. But whatever the reason, we are becoming clients instead of producers. Another reason to get off oil so that we can sell alternate technologies and keep the wealth in the US.

The major mineral companies are mostly based outside the US......I think Alcoa is the only one left in the US. And those large companies outside the US are not nationalized as your post suggests.
