The US media was once upon a time the best in the world. Most countries looked to us as leaders -- but no more. Now you can find out far more about the world from the BBC, German media and Canadian media. The consumption of news in the US is now heavily slanted towards soundbites like CNN, co-opted mouthpieces like Fox, and propaganda like talk radio. We consume junkfoood media and we get what we ask for -- 3rd rate journalism.

If US media is so bad, where's the model you think the US should emulate?

Its not a matter of good/bad. its a matter of catering to the audience. US News media in general, provides short clips on various events. European and Asian media provide longer in-depth coverage of fewer events. The other difference is that US media focuses primarily on US events. European and Asian media tend to report global events.
