Now you can find out far more about the world from the BBC, German media and Canadian media. The consumption of news in the US is now heavily slanted towards soundbites like CNN, co-opted mouthpieces like Fox, and propaganda like talk radio. We consume junkfoood media and we get what we ask for -- 3rd rate journalism.

I don't have the numbers but I'll bet that market share proves you wrong. Do you think German, Canadian and BBC news market share is outgrowing CNN and its crew? I doubt it. And since market share is going to be the best indicator of what news the people consider valuable (as opposed to YOUR opinion), in order to support your claim that they are superior at keeping the populace informed they should be growing faster.

As far as finding out more about the world, do you think Americans care about the rest of the world as much as they do about a sale at their local supermarket or who is playing in the high school football match? We don't. Hell, if you live in Arizona you don't even care much about the East Coast, much less events in Bolivia.
