Russia now has money from oil a possibly a very rich source of cash flow for the next fifty years that they did not have a few years ago. Not that long ago we could just tell them what to do. Now they are re-emerging as power center, with implications that we have not yet grasped. India is gaining strength, and of course China is on a roll. The middle east is brimming with US dollars and no place to put them. The US is now the poor relation. This is not a matter of playing the long term thought game. It is a matter of conducting foreign policy in a world where we actually have to go hat in hand and borrow the money to pay our soldiers.

Who's going to do that michael? First things first however, islamist terrorism must be taken down--both shiaa and sunni varieties.

If I were in the Military right now, I'd tell the nay sayers to go do it themselves.

The Soldiers over in Iraq are a lot better people than I am....they are there and doing the job, no matter how many nincompoops toss a salad of garbage on what they are doing.
