I would love to see the issue resolved, but how would it happen?

Without the occupation there can be no expansion for Israel and in turn no cause celebre for the Arabs. The only resolution involves a separate Palestinian state and that requires Israel to turn over land that was taken illegaly and for the Palestinians in turn to recognize the legitimacy of its neighbor.

Which occupation are you refering to? The elected leadership of the Palestinians, Hamas, always refers to two occupations - 48 and 67 - and is for resistance to both of them.

So are you really claiming that Israel must become another Arab state, or are you telling lies about the Palestinian position? Which is it?

I believe that the next US administration will HAVE to bring about a peace agreement in order for us to repair the incredible damage that this current crew has visited upon us in the eyes of the ME nations (and the rest of the world in general).

Are you kidding? The Israel-Pal conflict directly affects about 15 million humans, and indirectly affects the Arab countries which number perhaps 400 million humans and have amongst the least important economies in the world. Aside from oil, the directly and indirectly involved groups make next to nothing. Why make that tiny speck of the world a focus for the leading superpower?

Improving already positive US relations with China's 1.2 billion people is going to improve the USA's "standing" in the world a hell of a lot more than attempting to solve the petty "You have an X on your forehead and I have an O" war of a very small backwards group of ME folks. Or we've got 1 billion people in India, who couldn't really give a flying flip about Israel and Palestine - we can improve our already positive relations with India, and it will do loads more than working on solving ethnically inspired racism and hatred between small tribes that can't live together as equals.

I say the US would be best served by declaring the Israel-Pal conflict a sad state of world affairs where two sorry groups of people fail to make peace with each other, so we'll leave them alone to settle their differences while we focus on developing economic and cultural ties with the rest of the world. In a nutshell, declare the two sides both a bunch of losers, and leave them alone.
