To me, this is so obvious a solution (for the people of Gaza, at least) that it's amazing no one is pursuing it. Well, it looks obvious to me too. And if the Gazans took even a small step in that direction, they would be bombarded with investment money, anything to encourage it. Like American investors stepped up to deliver the state-of-the-art greenhouses that the departing Israelies were going to dismantle. So it might be instructive to look at the actual history of Gaza and consider what factors have made Gaza move always in the exact opposite direction - away from moderation and prosperity (the two walk hand in hand) and towards poverty and extremism?
