The really scary part of bombing Iran is that the resulting increased flow of wealth to Saudi Arabia will see much better funding of AQ. But Bush is not one for complex analysis.

The same way that the US sees Iran as a threat, Iran sees the US as threat too. I do not think Iran sees the US invading Iraq as a peace initiative.

Certainly.. Just as they see our invading Afghanistan as a threat.

But let's be real here.. What is our ACTUAL THREAT to them other than to their radical militant Jihadist ideology? Is our threat to them that we'll oppose their Mahdist imperialist ambitions in the Middle East (or at least the Shi'a holy sites in Iraq)?

They have no real legitimacy as a government, certainly no more than Saddam's regime possessed. 92% of Iranian's dislike their government, a statistic that even democrats can't apply to the Bush administration.

The threat we pose is initiating the creation of democratic reforms in the region (which is a threat to other local regimes as well)..

We have no imperial ambitions in Iran.. Hell, all the majority of Americans want to do in Iraq is get out, but only after that country is stabilized with an accountable government.
