But let's be real here.. What is our ACTUAL THREAT to them other than to their radical militant Jihadist ideology?
Hawk, look what the American policies had done to the Iraqis. I do not believe that the Iranian will want that.

Is our threat to them that we'll oppose their Mahdist imperialist ambitions in the Middle East (or at least the Shi'a holy sites in Iraq)?
Lets rephrase your statement. What is Iran threat to the Americans in America? I do not believe, the Iranian are on the US borders with military might. Thus conclude that the US is the threat.

They have no real legitimacy as a government, certainly no more than Saddam's regime possessed. 92% of Iranian's dislike their government, a statistic that even democrats can't apply to the Bush administration.
Hmmm, I do not believe that the US should be deciding the legitimacy of the Iranian regime. You can not blame the US administration policy blunders on the Iranian regime. The Iranian and most the world were against the invasion of Iraq, yet the American administration went ahead with it. I would question the legitimacy of the American administration for the lies and deceptions about the war in Iraq.

The threat we pose is initiating the creation of democratic reforms in the region (which is a threat to other local regimes as well).
Very good intentions, however, it is a wrong way to go about it.

We have no imperial ambitions in Iran.. Hell, all the majority of Americans want to do in Iraq is get out, but only after that country is stabilized with an accountable government.

Absolutely, the American central bank is printing money and devaluing the US currency to pay for the mess in Iraq, imagine what will happen is the US went into Iran and stayed.

Have you thought about the consequences and implication if a war with Iran is to happen. I am asking because I strongly believe that if the Iraq invasion was thought through, you would have had a pro-American regime in a democratic Iraq today. I know for a fact that the Administration was warned about what is happening today before the invasion and decided to risk it. However, let Iraq be a lesson for future American adventure.
