there is no magic cure.

I agree - a lot of people who did dumb things will have to eat their losses, get over it and move on. I think Wall Street is still in the initial stages of admitting they have a problem that needs to be fixed. The only "cure" is sound business practices going forward until time and growth patch over the biggest gaping holes (and much of the deadwood is knocked out of the game).

Sad thing is, we'll probably be in the same fix 10-20 years from now when the next bubble inflates.
