Steve, > It was a good sign that the majority of Americans polled said hell no to raising taxes to fix the bridges that should have already been fixed with the taxes already collected.

Yeah, imagine that ...

Here in California, we have a gas tax where the money is supposed to go toward fixing roads and infrastructure. Only problem is that the money can be taken for other uses if there is a "budget crisis."

Which of course the state legislature has declared every single year since 2001.

re: It was the govt who dropped the ball on that bridge in Minnesota and yet people want those same politicians to "fix" the problems that led to the bridge's destruction.

LOL. If the government didn't build bridges who would, you? Steve the genius would have us swimming across.

Maybe a good crash/panic would be good? It would at least show people that they can't rely on the govt to do anything for them.

It was the govt who dropped the ball on that bridge in Minnesota and yet people want those same politicians to "fix" the problems that led to the bridge's destruction.

It was a good sign that the majority of Americans polled said hell no to raising taxes to fix the bridges that should have already been fixed with the taxes already collected.

I always thought you were short sighted and cynical but now I realize you are pretty immature as well. How old did you say you were?

No wonder you buy into crap like this:

"At a news conference Thursday morning at the White House, President Bush dismissed raising the federal gasoline tax, at least until Congress changes the way it spends highway money.

"It's an interesting question, about how Congress spends and prioritizes highway money," the president said. "My suggestion would be that they revisit the process by which they spend gasoline money in the first place."

"If bridges are a priority, let's make sure we set that priority first and foremost, before we raise taxes," Bush said."

As if your president doesn't know that any surplus money is being funneled into his f!cking war! What an irritating little...........
