CH is a guilt ridden westerner.

Yes, I can see that.

I forgot to do this yesterday but I'd like to thank you for this post:

You're one of the few here that keeps the mean vindictive posters in their place.......

I didn't hear Bushes speach but I do know that without some agreements in the Iraqi gov't about oil wealth sharing etc it will be close to impossible for it to survive at least in the present form. We've tried to pressure Malaki into it to no avail (so far). IMO there's one other avenue that might produce some action and if you think about it it's where the pressure should come from and that's the grassroots. There's been alot in the news about the tribal leaders, who just a while ago were supporting AQ, flipping over to support the surge. Crap, work calls. Let me cut this short by saying that there's a chance that pressure might be brought to bear on the Malaki Gov't through the sheiks.......

Again, thanks for trying to be fair with Nadine and I.....

Funny that ...and in a way i do have reason to feel guilt.

That is what christianity is about...guilt and, hopefully ,atonement.

america is the standard bearer of the christain world....or so we ourselves believe.

mike, an honorable way out of Vietnam would not have included abandoning South Vietnam the way we did when we cut off funds to them. To this day, a**holes like John Kerry pretend that nothing bad happened in Southeast Asia after 1975, instead of millions of refugees, prisoners, and dead people. Had we known then what we know now, the arguments might have gone differently in 1968 - 72.
