Private property is so well protected that it's illegal to cut down trees, "alter vegetation", build anything on the property, or make any changes to the property.

Pure Fiction MQ. As recent as 5 years ago, a friend of mine in NZ, living in your neck of the woods - Bucklands Beach, bought a dilapitated house - just for the land. hired a bulldozer and made the whole place flat as u could see. Then built a massive 5brm house on the property that he owned. beautiful sea views from his deck etc. the old place had none.

When I asked him why he bought a dump - he said - come back in a years time, and tell me if its a dump. He was right, I was wrong.
