A fine compromise Mike......and remember "compromise" is not a dirty word. It gives the Bushies their victory chant and gets us the heck outta there. Like it a lot.....

Its not a bad outcome and perhaps if you folks didnt react to pelosi and reids stupidity, you would start saying this and better yet the american people would start buying into the Victory story.

Bush is saying this, but it's hard for the American people to react while the MSM keeps saying "disaster, disaster" on DNC orders. Bush has to react to Pelosi's stupidity; she couldn't care less what happens to Iraq, the only enemy she cares about is named GW Bush. Nothing would make her happier than to cut off all the money, insist on instant departure, and then blame the ensuing chaos on Bush alone.

micheal i think "mission completed" would be more appropriate than "victory".......but you have a very good point about presenting the american public with the fact that things have settled down in iraq ..............

imagine the public accolade if the administration announced that it would bring back (withdraw)the first troops home for X-mass 2007 ...a token 5000 might just do it esp if it was clear they would not be redeploied and that other withdrawals would follow ,conditions permitting.
