If you start sidestepping those laws for any reason at all, then we are no longer one. "Why do so many on the left believe 911 conspiracy theories" Selective attention, I suppose. Conspiracy theory wackos dot the entire political spectrum. 9/11 is no different. You'd have to make a case that those who subscribe to 9/11 conspiracy theories are largely leftist. You haven't. "Why do liberals make silly charges like the US is trying to steal Middle Eastern oil?" Umm, it isn't only the left that have made that charge. "How do you square falsely accusing the US of crimes with claims of patriotism?" False claims, you'd have a point. However, it hasn't been proven that all such charges are false. Or even most of them. Many of the charges have resulted in convictions... So far, your "shattering" is going about as well as with the first one.

there is a well known book published a year or so ago which showed that conservatives, and especially religious conservatives, are much more generous in their charitable giving. Yup, conservatives are great about throwing a few pennies at inefficient private charities that accomplish little. Perhaps it is because they know they accomplish little or perhaps it is out of stinginess. However, conservatives' political lobbying efforts are the sole reason our efficient government charities are severely underfunded. A good example of this is Katrina, where Bush pulled back the gov't help to let the private sector take over. The result? The private sector failed miserably. Or perhaps the miserable state of New Orleans was the goal, in which case this was a smashing success. Tom
