CA has made their choice and its a Prius, no matter how much money you have.

What it is, Liz, for your big $$ IT execs and the Hollywood fruitloops, is a Prius parked conspicuously in front of their big mansions (for "status") and 10 or 15 Porches, Ferraris, Bentleys, etc., tucked away in the garage. Hypocritical "save the poor little penguin" bull caca..

I think all those IT execs want a Prius to ameliorate the guilt from creating products that become technologically obsolete so fast that the pile of computer trash left is swallowing the world and filling up landfills at an alarming rate.

If a Prius is so hard to get out there and in so high demand as you say, I'm surprised that some enterprising person hasn't taken advantage of that opportunity because I can walk into at least 5 local Toyota dealerships within a 30 miles of my house and have my choice. I live in a state that rivals CA for blueness but I have to tell you my little high mpg import is surrounded by giant SUVs everywhere I go. I see the occasional Prius but mostly I see Highlander hybrids and hybrid Camrys when I see a hybrid.

BTW while I look forward to far more hybrid cars in the future (for the quiet) I wouldn't buy one today thinking that I was being greener than someone buying a high mpg combustion engine car. As mining goes, nickel mining is one of the worst offenders and in a way that directly effects me, acid rain. This makes the Prius with it's current battery technology, increased cost to recycle and shorter expected life worse in terms of energy and resources from birth to death than those gas guzzling SUVs you think no one wants in CA (no one wants them but last time I was out there they were everywhere I went).

I'll buy a hybrid when the battery technology has improved to make it better than an even exchange.
