"I guess the drugs must be getting overly prescribed"

How did we survive for thousands of years before without taking them?

Instead of changing their ways, they are taking Prozac and blaming others for their problems.

In many cases, they are living beyond their means and get in financial trouble.

well seminole thats in very severe circumstances but there are cases where people are suffering from what they used to call the "blues"- those are actually mild cases of clinical depression and these days if a kid even has anything like that the doctors are prescribing prozac or whatever. My family has a lot of cases of this disease or whatever it is. I am not comfortable prescribing everybody in the world that has this with drugs.

"I guess the drugs must be getting overly prescribed. "

I've got this theory that the rise of Nazi Germany coincided with the invention and widespread use of amphetamines, which gave the Germans that aura of invincibility and incredible productivity, enabling that little country to try to take over the world.

I wonder if anti-depressants are writing our history NOW. A stock market that just won't correct, no matter what the news hammering it is. The worst President in memory, but we won't boot him. A lousy war we all hate, but we won't end it.

I guess the drugs must be getting overly prescribed.

If a person is really suffering from clinical depression, the only "changes in their lives" that the person can make is to commit suicide ... the range of options is really pretty narrow, either the drugs work or the person offs himself ... I guess it's okay to stand on the sideline and castigate the dude for opting for the drugs rather than having the guts to simply kill himself and be done with it ... but it's not the kind of thing I would want on my conscience ... seems cold-hearted and cruel to me ... thought it seems to appeal to some.

With all due respect, that's an absurd argument tantamount to saying that depression is caused by a lack of prozac. That's just silly. Antidepressants don't cure depression, they merely treat the symptoms, not unlike how morphine treats the pain of a brain tumor but does nothing to "cure" the tumor.

best...
