I wonder, though, if he had been from the new york city area or even the senator from new york at the time, would he have felt the same way? Let us say that instead of the twin towers it had been the sears tower, would he have had the courage to vote the same way? I just look at his votes in the Senate, voting for the funding for the war, and I don't see the same judgement that he is being given credit for before he was elected to the Senate. He voted for all the war funding until it became clear that he was running for the presidency. Then, with the same lack of courage on senator hrcs part, he waited until the last minute to vote against the funding for the war once he was assured that it would pass, telling me he would bow to political pressure on the war. If the war was so wrong and he knew it, why did he vote for funding it? I think everybody who is so goo goo gah gah crazy over Obama is fooling themselves in my opinion. I think he is politics as usual. I just hope that he has the ability to get things done in the presidency if he is elected. The article that Dale had posted with the highlighted part about the paper feeling that his lack of experience is made up for by his vision is interesting in that they are saying that he lacks experience. I think this is why he appeals to young people. They don't value experience as much. I know I didn't at the time I was in that age group. Youth tend to go on the vision thing. It would be nice if he he had a balance of both.If he gets the nomination and gets himself elected, we will see. I think people, especially on the left, are so disillusioned with things right now especially after 2 terms of bush jr, that they will buy into anything that sounds good. However, reasonable people can disagree.
