I thought I had her on ignore but didn't. Must repair that to preserve equanimity. Not relevant to this thread, either, but I had an epiphany recently that COW (beef and pork futures) is the place to be. Cattle are being slaughtered (and a big recall of beef is under way because of desperate measures to make the poor creatures stand upright to be killed). They are being killed prematurely because it is too expensive to feed them up on corn (corn being made into ethanol with government subsidies). 145 million pounds of beef is enough to buy a couple of hamburgers for everyone in the country. The Chinese have lots of Treasury bonds and want more meat. When the cows have been killed and eaten, people will return asking for their Whoppers. Meat will be short. Grain will cost even more. Meat will double in price. COW will double in price. Of course, maybe 200 million or more Americans may suddenly become vegetarians. So I could be wrong. But I think otherwise: The Chinese will sell their bonds. The dollar will go on down. Disclosure: I am long COW and may get much longer.
