Gee, if I didn't know any better I'd say those folks over at the "View from the Left of Center" were a bunch of intolerant, bigoted bastages who, based on the flimsiest of anecdotal evidence, have denigrated millions of fellow Americans unfairly. That certainly doesn't sound like a typical "centrist". It does however, sound like a typical leftist on SI though (read friggin' hypocrite).

Your antipathy to me has been duly noted in the past. Sadly, this antipathy seems to have rendered you blind to the sarcasm of that post. When I spoke of the elitist people forgetting what comprises a significant part of America, I was pointing out the blindness of that particular POV. I WAS ridiculing the CA bib overalls, and yes, Brumar, there IS such a thing as chic overalls. And there is such a thing as REAL cowboy hats. And boots. And I find the imitiation of such as culturally interesting. These are the Texans who still occupy an enormous portion of our state. ANd when any politician forgets, or ignores, or is just blindly impervious to this population, which occupies a significant part of the mid and southwest, he makes a grave mistake. This is a serious, sincere POV, one deserving of respect, not ridicule. (and I must add that this was NOT ghetto, but the butts in questions WERE black.)
