It's time for the Black community to stand tall against the Wright's and Farrakhan's of this world.

I agree with you on this, Pat. Trying to understand the background of those who preach this and exploring the context around his ministry is not a justification for that kind of speech, at least for me, and I would guess for no one else here. Too often, however, some confuse context and research with sympathy or excuses. It was done when factors other than hatred were considered for 9-11; it was done when the culture of Iraq was discussed as the potentially serious problem it turned out to be and a reason not to invade, and they are doing it over any attempt to understand Dr WRight's time and culture.

This doesn't mean that anyone here believed America brought it on herself, or that we were Saddam lovers or that the Rev Wrights shouldn't be dealt with.

There is a natural tendency to close ranks, to defend the group to the detriment of whole. Its not a "black" issue - it's a "people" issue. Look at history and you'll see whole societies which have clung to their victim myths for hundreds if not thousands of years.

However, the believability - and the power - of the victimology narrative will be forever diminished if he is elected. If he does get the Dem nomination, and if he is elected, that will be a unappreciated but very welcome byproduct.

It's not OK for him to interject hate from the pulpit of any church

If you're going to condemn him, at least condemn him in context. Certainly in the first video he is doing the opposite of interjecting hate (if there is ANY hate in that sermon, it's coming from a white former ambassador to Iraq). As for the second video, it is much more nuanced than what we see in the MSM (no surprise there).
