I think they understand that tax and spend was replaced by borrow and spend except the spending was on the military instead of the domestic economy. They also understand they are the ones who will suffer the most because of the $10 Trillion national debt.

The dem platform will require tax increases as far as the eye can see.

Can you elaborate on how we can close the 10 trillion dollar deficit that Bush is going to leave us with. This election is going to be different. When voters go to the polling booth, they will have the slogan "Has Enough" uppermost in their minds.

Bringing a discussion point such as raising of taxes is evil or that some is a liberal etc. etc. is a time tested failed argument. It was a hot argument in 2000 and 2004. To raise those arguments today,, is living in the past and is a waste of time.

Let us bring in some realistic arguments to this thread.

dont have racial baggage either and thats good but they also dont have a clue as to why the new deal blew up with tax and spend.

When exactly did it blow up? Read any history book.....the number of homeless increased dramatically when Reagan took over the presidency. Why do you think that is? When the current crop of GOPers who put him in office are dead and buried, then and only then will there be a true appraisal of Reagan's presidency. Then and only then, do I expect a rather negative assessment.

The land of economic fantasy and permanent recession!!!

I can't believe you can post that here with a straight face. My friend, we are there now under Bush's idiotic policies. We are borrowing money hand over fist from the Chinese to finance our wars and tax rebates to US citizens, while we pour money into the corrupt government of Iraq.

The only ones living in fantasy land are the folks in the Bush administration and the people who support him. The rest of us are living in a recession TODAY, because of those moronic policies.

Obama and Clinton both believe in PAYGO, which the Republicans DO NOT believe in. If you don't know what that means, I'll define it for you. Paygo rules that Dems live by mean that for every tax reduction or spending increase, you have to find a corresponding spending decrease or tax increase. In other words, all legislation has to be budget neutral or a net reduction of spending.

It's a damn shame that I have to vote Democrat in order to get fiscal conservatism. These neo-cons that have stolen my Republican Party should all be imprisoned for their Treason. And their supporters needs to wake up and realize that Democrats are Americans too. We're all in this together, so we'd better start figuring out how to solve problems together instead of throwing around meaningless sound bites like "tax and spend". Guess what? Why does the government levy taxes in the first place? In order to spend. Duh! But we have to balance the books while we do it. Bush and McCain have no clue how to do that.
