<<<That's not a health care issue - it's a "dumb management" issue. Which is the point I originally made.>>>

It is a dumb policy issue. Don't blame US management or US workers. The Japanese have a more efficient single payer universal health care system. Not only do all the citizens of japan have universal health care coverage, but Japanese manufacturers are more competitive when they don't have to go to a private insurance plan to give their workers health care.

The Japanese car manufacturers establish design studios in California and hire US car designers to design Japanese cars. The advantage they have is they could "afford" to put more quality into their cars because of our stupid health care policy that penalizes US manufacturers.

Quality is nothing more than a management decision. It is a line item on the cost side of the ledger.

The health care, union, executive compensation, and crappy car issues are all subsets of "dumb management." All problems that any company has are subsets of "dumb management." Except maybe tornadoes and war.
