He had to call a press conference on the issue. Mme - this is huge. When this all over it is possible that Wright will be the turning point. I think it is sad and wrong - but it is what it is.

Does trying to understand someone's POV mean you're being an apologist? I never thought people were saying WRight's comments were acceptable, only that, given context, they could be understood better. This happens within discussions about Saddam, or about terrorists, also. Any attempt at saying he is this way, or they are that way because-- immediately draws wrath and accusations of being somehow a sympathizer. Is seen as somehow approving the behavior. Seems to me what we were trying for in the discussions about Wright was to consider his world, puzzling as it might seem to most of us.
