Dems are still seen as weak on terror and weak on FP. Whats killing the dems is that iraq seems to be going a hell of a lot better than before. Sure iraq will be within irans sphere but it will be federal and sunni areas and kurds will always have a great deal of independence if not ultimate sovereignty. Assuming this peaceful trend continues thru the election, Obama will have to move toward mccain and not the other way around. Obama lacks creds to do this but hillary has always been squarely in the middle on this issue. She could beat McCain even with iraq getting better because she could triangulate. Obama at best is 50/50 and although the economy can trump iraq in the end or iraq could blow up again in mccains face, the more likely scenario is another 200. 2004 election.

I think from a pragmatic point of view that Clinton would be the best VP at this point.

I agree 100%.

You would take a fractured party and instantly unite it. It would be seen as a magnanimous gesture on the part of both Clinton and Obama; a sacrifice for the ideals of 'the party'.

And to the average citizen, it would be seen as a "superstar" ticket. In the age of 'American Idol' it would be impossible to defeat; the Republicans couldn't replicate it.

Now the question is are these folks 'magnaminous' enough to do it?

PS I'm not sure Obama can win and if he doesn't then I think we will probably have a huge hawk and a war with Iran. 4 more years of Neo influence. A nightmare.

"it seems just amazing that McCain is running about even with Obama right now. Obama SHOULD be up 20 points at least."

We have Clinton to thank for that.
