i meant both, not so much that a collapse of the usd monetary system is a pre-condition for china's return to the natural mean, but that both will happen in the same 3D space, impacted and impacting the general here and there environment etc, and due to both, minus and plus, gold would rise to its role of repeated destiny, more rather than less

the issue then become one of when the dark interregnum (that which is between twawki and teotwawki) will start, how the process would go, and when it might end when teotwawki dawn is upon us

teotwawki dawn, should we be fortunate, can be upon us before the twawki dusk is altogether done with, or

should we be less than fortunate, a long and dark interregnum instead

chugs, tj

I see incredible advances all over the world, not just China. India, Brazil, Eastern Europe, Latin America.

China is such a success story because the crazy Communists almost destroyed the economy. It's not surprising that coming back from almost zero they're booming. It's exactly what was predicted by Western economists, politicians and political scientists decades ago.

Get rid of crazy Communist stranglehold on the economy, open up to free trade, stand back, and watch human ingenuity flourish.

Somewhere Richard Nixon is looking on, very pleased with himself.

But it's not an "us vs. them" system, not a zero sum game. China going up doesn't mean the US going down. That's where Jay goes wrong, he thinks like a video game.

July 24, 2008 will be my ten year anniversary posting on SI. It's been a very interesting and entertaining pastime. One of the things I've learned is how hard wired personality is. People are who they are.

Some people see the world in black and white, some shades of gray, some all the colors of the rainbow. Some look at the world through rose colored glasses, some look at the world through shit covered glasses.

Fascinating.

At any rate, Jay and I have been talking about TEOTWAWKI for at least seven of the past ten years, and he made it very clear that he wasn't just talking about the fluctuations of fortune as we've experienced in our own lifetimes, he meant the destruction of the US economy. Which is silly stuff. But Jay's a silly boy.
