"Maybe CJ would like to cite other factors for the "shut down" of Carter's alternative energy projects."

Lack of foresight.

"Maybe the fact that oil fell to $20/barrel while Reagan was in office?"

They were shut down before prices had fallen. Still, it should have been clear it was a national security issue.

You know, the stuff Republicans claim they are good at?

Damn, I keep forgetting. They only pay lip service to the idea. When it comes to actual actions, they often do the opposite. At best, it is things that have no effect.

I can't believe you. At the same time, the US under your 'great' president, Reagan, was chucking all of Carter's alt. energy programs, Brazil, another country heavily dependent on foreign oil, was moving forward with its program. Today, Brazil is energy independent and a net exporter of oil; the US is more than ever oil dependent.

For the past 30 years at least, the GOP has worked against the best interests of the US. Thanks.
