The ongoing cost per mile of an electric car is 1 cent.

But the fixed cost of an electric car is greater because of its batteries, and lower range, and longer times to "fill up" are also serious costs to most people, at least if they are trying to run an electric as their only car.

The fixes cost differential is not simply a matter of economies of scale. Absent a breakthrough in technology, electric cars with similar characteristics to gasoline powered cars (except for range, and "refill" time which would probably have to remain disadvantages for the electric car) would almost certainly be more expensive even if 50% of the fleet was electric vehicles.

Not sure where you are getting that the alternative solutions cost more than oil or coal. I presume it's ignorance on your part.

All you have to do is ask instead of assume and project.

Are you one of the ones who think it necessary to raise taxes on oil and coal to fund your alternative energy experiments? The cost of alternative energy experiments must include the penalties imposed on existing energy as "we're all in this together" as consumers of power unless you want to continue class warfare based upon the source of energy you consume.
