"This fatalistic thinking where we have to be severely punished for past mistakes stems from your early religious upbringing. Purge it.......it does nothing for anyone. Its time to think outside the box and get out of this mess."

Sometimes JF sounds like INODE. Punishment and suffering are not things we want to embrace given where we are. But to john's larger point, it is true that our move away from religion and ethics has created a class of folks who have no shame and who play fast and loose with the truth. This isnt only a bush thing on the right. Many democrat supporters have played in this sandbox as well. Personally i think its more a boomer thing. Gimmme Gimmeee gimmeee. Preboomers attack because they arent like ike. Post boomers attack because they arent liberal enough. But post boomers need to get their act together too. They have been spoiled beyond how much their parents were. They need to be prepared to make some sacrifices too, even only in their own personal expectations. Thats why a motivational obama presidency is so attractive to me. You got IKE #2 running against Something better in theory. Either is better than more boomers like clinton and bush.

FNM and FRE have little to do with the twin deficits. Its the war and pork.

They sure do if we bail them out.

This fatalistic thinking where we have to be severely punished for past mistakes stems from your early religious[?] upbringing. Purge it.......it does nothing for anyone. Its time to think outside the box and get out of this mess.

It's not 'past mistakes', it's current mistakes. Debt has to be paid... get over it. I wasn't brought up to think that you can run up unlimited future debt to solve todays problems without consequences.

Piling more debt on top of the debt that is causing the problem is NOT "thinking outside the box" it's the inside the box thinking that got us in this mess.
